The Toongabbie cenotaph installed 24 June 2024 in memory of those who served and who made the supreme sacrifice in WW1 and WW2. The cenotaph also honours those who undertook peacekeeping services in Boer War, China, Korean War, Malayan Emergency, Vietnam War, Indonesia, Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan.
The cenotaph is located at the Toongabbie Village Green next to the Mechanics Institute Hall and was organised by the Toongabbie Township Group. The Toongabbie Township Group would like to provide a sincere thank you to the Toongabbie Recreations Reserve Committee and Latrobe / Wellington Lions Club for their support with the project.
The Toongabbie Cenotaph project is supported by the Victorian Government and the Victorian Veterans Council. The cenotaph would not have been possible without the generous grant they provided.
Funding for the flagpole was via a Latrobe City Council grant with a flag provided by The Hon Darren Chester MP, Federal Member for Gippsland.
