The Toongabbie Recreation Reserve Committee hold an annual machinery sale and clearing auction each year, generally in October. All funds raised by the Committee are used for improvements to the town's facilities.
Professional auctioneers conduct the sale, all you need to do is turn up at the Recreation Reserve and Committee volunteers will be there to book in your furniture, machinery, cars, caravans, boats, tractors, trailers or general household goods or appliances. It is advisable that bigger items be there early.
The auction continues throughout the day until all lots are sold or passed in. Buyers register for the day, and pay for items in cash or by cheque once they have concluded their purchases. Vendors receive a cheque from the Committee a week or so later. The Committee takes a commission (minimum $1) or 10%, or less for lots sold for more than $2,000.
The committee recommends that you advise of bigger items you wish to sell, as these will be advertised free of charge by the Committee in local papers.
